The Phoenix
Out of the ashes, I arise. Well, maybe that’s the wrong metaphor for Promise Power™. We did not crash and burn in Dallas; we just got a wakeup call. The lesson from the conference was more like a pruning than a burning: Trim back our expectations so that we can grow in the right direction. We’re working on it and already see new growth!
In the midst of our rethinking, I was considering what I personally want to do. I was definitely aware of my burning desire to keep writing. (Aha, that’s where the Phoenix metaphor came from!) Before going to Dallas, I had signed up for yet another writing program. As a result of that program, Awaken the Author Within and the confluence of several other provocative ideas about choosing niches for my target markets, I realized that I have been overlooking one of my areas of expertise: co-parenting.
The girls I co-parented are successful adults now, and those pain-filled years of working it out with their dad are long gone. But I still vividly remember how much I needed guidance and how little there was. Even now, most of the information out there is about dealing with contentious, even litigious breakups or deadbeat dads (and moms). I have personal information and first-hand experience about how to create new family structures with heart. The working title of my next book is The Secret of Success for Co-Parents: How you can transform a family in conflict into two families in harmony. It’s a book for parents who want to be true to themselves while creating an environment that encourages their kids to grow and thrive.
Of course, I have my own experience and that of several clients and friends. However, I’d love to have input from you if you have been through this particular test of fire. (There’s that burning metaphor again!). Please send me email if you are willing to answer some questions. Of course, you will remain anonymous to all but me!
